I make no secret of the fact that I LOVE Weleda products, since first trialling their products and enjoying a wonderful day at their medicinal plant garden in Derbyshire, I’ve been a firm fan of their natural beauty and holistic health products – that’s why I was really keen to review their new tinted lip balms.
Despite being very popular with many, in particularly celebrities such as Taylor Swift, I’ve never really been into the ‘statement lip’ look. Maybe it’s because whenever I’ve tried it, the lip colour either ‘bleeds’ quickly or I smudge my lips to create an ‘ombre’ look around my mouth – neither of which look that attractive!
The other major reason I don’t really like wearing lipstick is that many contain harsh chemicals, such as parabens and other potentially harmful ingredients, much of which is ingested through wear. That said, I do like a little lip tint, especially when I’m out and about, so I’m thrilled that Weleda have launched their new NATRUE certified natural balms in three flattering colours, Nude, Rose and Berry red.
The first thing I noticed about all of the balms is their delicate fragrance, naturally scented with pure essential oils, they leave a subtle hint of rose petals and vanilla on the lips. The glossy balms are also very light and creamy to touch and can be applied evenly on the lips with no stickiness – in fact once applied, unlike usual lip balms, you can hardly tell you have anything on your lips.
The colours, well these are so naturally pretty, my favourite is Berry red as it just a shade darker than my natural lip colour giving my lips a little warmth and, as they say in fashion circles, is my MLBB shade (my lips but better).
Nude- a barely-there tint to leave a natural shimmer on the lipstick
Rose- a delicate blush pink with an attractive natural rosy-lips shine
Berry red – a sheer raspberry red colour for a ‘just bitten’ berry look
The balms are also good for the lips, made with a high proportion of nourishing cold-pressed plant oils, such as Andalucian organic olive oil and organic jojoba oil, as well as protective vegetable waxes including fair trade organic shea butter and vegetable wax made from sunflower seed, they are skin-friendly, naturally soften the lips and lock in moisture.
They are, of course, also free from parabens, petroleum derivatives and other artificial preservatives, are vegan-friendly and eco-friendly too, did I mention they are gluten-free also?
Packaged in handy 10ml tubes (which are recyclable) they are the perfect addition to any natural, ‘no make-up’ cosmetic bag, plus they’re ideal for popping in your pocket when you’re out and about to give you lips a little colour whenever you need it, or a moisture-boost in dry conditions.
At £6.95 they are fabulous little treat and are just perfect for bringing out the natural beauty of your lips in a fresh new way.
