The Friendly Bench – a community garden to tackle isolation

The Friendly BenchSo, there’s a lot that has happened since my last update it’s all good news.

Following a lengthy design process, which has involved many conversations (and redesigns) with my Local Authority’s Highway Department, we are now in a position to press the button on fundraising and getting our first, The Friendly Bench, built!

We, yes, The Friendly Bench is now an official community group, have got our plans agreed, a licence is moments away from being issued and I am in talks with another fantastic social enterprise, who train and support people from our communities who face prejudice and barriers to work, about the possibility of them building our bench.

I’ve also just completed the Awards in Counselling Concepts (Level 2) course, which I hope will help me support and be a more empathetic listener to those in my community who need it.

It’s all very exciting (and a little daunting) but it’s now really happening. I’ll post another update soon and look forward to sharing pics of The Friendly Bench’s progress.

Here’s a little video I shot about The Friendly Bench story so far – The Friendly Bench
