Zero Waste Week is a campaign which aims to raise awareness about the effects of landfill waste. The theme of the week this year is “Use it up!” which focuses on food waste and as I can vouch, there are huge benefits for our bank balance and the environment if we all waste less food.
During Zero Waste Week there will be a diverse range of organisations, businesses and charities, including myself, Queen of Easy Green, encouraging people to sign up and pledge their support. If you want to join in and see how you can benefit, here’s some simple things you can do:
• Create and share a zero waste recipe from food that might otherwise go off
• Shop in your cupboards for a week and prevent food Cialis Online waste
• Buy loose food so you buy exactly the amount you need
• Change the word “leftovers” to “ingredients” and get creative in the kitchen – I love this one – ‘leftovers’ is such an unattractive word!
Also, if you are a ‘grow your own’ fan, like me, don’t let any crop go unharvested – pick all of those tomotoes, cucumbers, apples, blackberries, whatever you have been growing and make sure you pick it, preserve it or freeze it – just don’t let it go to waste! Quick heads up, I’m working on a scheme around this theme, details to follow very soon!
