Green beauty review: natural, organic skincare products Part Two

Green beauty review - natural, organic skincare products Part Two

If 2014 is your year for living a healthier, happier life, there’s no simpler way to keep up your good intentions than to make a ‘green’ beauty skincare switch.

Following on from part one of my green beauty review, here’s two more all natural, preservative-free facial moisturizers which I’ve been sent to trial.

Aubrey Organics Revitalising Therapy Range – Revitalizing Night Cream (for dry skin)

At the forefront of natural, ethical beauty for more than 40 years, Aubrey Organics have developed a new collection of 100%, all-natural skincare products. Problem-targeted, the new range launched last year remains true to Aubrey’s pioneering core values of only using the finest, organic, fair trade, all-natural herbal and pure plant extracts to create products that are kind to the skin and the environment.

Aubrey Organics Revitalizing Therapy skincare rangePetrochemical-free, additive-free and not tested on animals, all of Aubrey’s hand-crafted organic, natural skincare products are produced in small batches, so they can be shipped fresh, daily in recyclable (HDPE) plastic bottles.

The Revitalising Therapy Night Crème, which I’ve been sent to review, is an ultra-rich blend of organic ingredients including organic Rosa Mosqueta oil cold-pressed from organic rose hip seeds, which is a superb skin nutrient and high in vitamin C, argan oil and aloe vera, which claims to replenish dry skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles for visibly firmer, younger-looking skin.

Classically rose-scented the cream comes in a pump-action bottle that dispenses a ‘pea-sized’ amount of rich moisturiser which can be effortlessly applied to the skin and is sufficient to cover both the face and neck. A little tacky to touch after application, the cream feels like it slightly ‘sits on’ the skin, however as used at night, I didn’t find this too much of an issue*. After using for a few weeks my skin feels nourished and I have noticed a slight reduction in the appearance of lines, particularly along my jaw-line. My skin also feels soft and hydrated, which is vital for cold, wintery days like these.

Aimed at the 18-40 year old market, at £23.48 for a 30ml bottle, I believe Aubrey’s Revitalizing Night Cream is an effective and inexpensive solution for those looking to naturally care for problematic dry skin. Created using purely organic ingredients and no synthetic nasties, you can be safe in the knowledge that this daily skincare treatment is working in harmony with your skin and not against it.

The Aubrey Organics range offers more than 200 products including skincare, baby and child, sun protection, hair care and cosmetics.

Aubrey® products are available in independent health food stores nationwide and on the web www.aubreyorganicsuk.co.uk

*This could be due to my skin being ‘normal’, whereas the cream is formulated for use on dry skin.

Nelsons Pure & Clear  – Balancing Moisturiser

Nelsons Pure & Clear Balancing Moisturiser

Leading healthcare product manufacturer, Nelsons’ anti blemish skincare range Pure and Clear is just that. Created using a combination of natural plant extracts including, Calendula, Amica, Hypericum with Tea Tree Oil, the dermatologically tested, free from chemicals skincare range aims to naturally balance the skin whilst cleansing and hydrating without blocking pores – all without a chemical in sight.

The Nelsons Pure & Clear Balancing Moisturiser which I was sent to review is light moisturizer with pleasantly refreshing tea-tree oil fragrance. Very easy to apply and quickly absorbed into the skin, the oil-free lotion immediately leaves the skin feel smooth and soft to touch.

Using the natural properties of Tea Tree Oil along with the calming and soothing properties of Arnica and Hypericum and skin conditioning of Calendula, the anti-blemish and blackhead formula is ideal for those with oily, blemish-prone skin, particularly young adults, as it controls shine without blocking pores.

At £8.20 for a 125ml bottle, Pure & Clear Moisturiser is fantastic value and is ideal for young adults to discover and enjoy the benefits of an all-natural skincare range. With adolesecent bodies being more susceptible to synthetic chemicals, choosing Pure & Clear which is free from parabens, artificial colour and fragrances, SLS, PEGs, lanolin, silicones and mineral oils, young skin can look it’s best whilst remaining exactly as nature intended – pure and clear.

Prices start at £5.45 and Nelsons Pure & Clear anti blemish skincare range is available from Boots, www.boots.com, Holland & Barrett and www.hollandandbarrett.com.

Wow. I really love organic skin products because I would not have to worry with the ingredients compared to commercial products. Revitalising Therapy Night Crème sounds promising. It is good thing that it supports age range of 18-40. Nelsons Pure & Clear moisturizer is interesting to try because tea tree oil is perfect for acne prone skin.
